My name is Laura F. Kelley, and I am running to represent District 111 in the Florida House.
For over a decade, I have been deeply rooted with my community here in Doral, FL, advocating for justice, engaging in public service, and providing comprehensive legal assistance through my immigration law practice. My journey has been fueled by a steadfast commitment to service, a passion for the law, and an unwavering dedication to our community's welfare.
Florida stands at a crossroads, facing challenges that impact us all – from the pressing housing affordability crisis or the complete lack of action being taken to fix our insurance disaster to the imperative of safeguarding women's reproductive freedoms.
In contrast, my opponent, David Borrero, has proudly announced his full endorsement from Donald Trump, affirming his alignment with dangerous policies and ideologies that prioritize divisive rhetoric and threaten the very foundations of our democracy.
Indeed, in 2022, my opponent faced no challengers, and this emboldened him to push extreme policies that infringe on our personal freedoms.
He didn't just vote for a restrictive six-week abortion ban—he proposed a near-total ban without exceptions for rape and incest. The Borrero Abortion Ban defined life at fertilization, a move that threatened not only IVF but also access to the morning after pill and birth control pills. While focusing on unpopular culture war issues, he has ignored critical problems in our state like our skyrocketing property insurance and the soaring cost of living. His support for anti-immigrant legislation has harmed our key industries such as hospitality, agriculture, and construction by worsening our critical labor shortage, thereby increasing our daily cost of living. If re-elected, imagine what Trump’s chosen State Representative would do next.
Unlike my opponent, I am dedicated to bringing balanced, responsible governance back to our district.
District 111 deserves better. We need leadership that champions moderate, centrist values—solutions that focus on respect and dignity for all. It's time for a representative who will address real issues affecting our families and restore a sense of community. We are not enemies; we are neighbors, colleagues, and friends.
